KAAT
Pure art

INTRO
In my work, I seek a balance between vulnerability and strength.
The layering in material and technique reflects the deeper layers of our existence: the search for meaning and the complexity of emotions. I invite the viewer to connect with the feelings and thoughts that my art evokes. My work is a reflection of my own inner processes and part of my artistic journey, in which, through imagery, I engage in a silent dialogue with myself and the viewer.
BIOGRAFIE
Kaat is a visual artist specializing in drawing.
After ten years of classes and workshops with various artists, she deepened her artistic development through a five-year studio program at an art academy in Belgium, where she built a strong foundation in tradition, technique, and craftsmanship.
Her work explores the deeper layers of the human condition, with a focus on strength, vulnerability, and emotions that are often difficult to capture in words. Kaat invites the viewer to recognize themselves in the layered quality and subtlety of her imagery.
She works with graphite, pastel, bister, conté, and watercolor. Graphite forms the foundation of her drawings, while color is used with care to enhance nuance and emotion. Her style balances minimalist subtlety with expressive power, within the framework of expressive realism.
Kaat exhibits regularly, both solo and in group exhibitions, and her work is praised for its emotional depth and refined layering. Alongside exhibitions, she continues to explore her artistic boundaries and works on projects that challenge her vision and technique.
Her work is an invitation to pause and reflect on what moves us inwardly, and to see vulnerability as a source of strength and beauty.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is a search for the deeper layers of being human—emotions that are often difficult to put into words, but which I try to capture through imagery. I aim to show the rawness and beauty of human experience: the moments in which we are most ourselves, in all our strength and vulnerability. These moments, both intense and fragile, touch the core of who we are.
As a woman, I feel connected to feminine expression, yet at the same time this is a universal theme that resonates within every human experience. This is reflected in the way I draw women: as powerful and vulnerable beings who embody both strength and fragility. It is my way of showing that we all carry these aspects of being human within us.
The materials I use—ranging from graphite to pastel, bister, and watercolor—allow me to capture subtle variations of emotion and meaning. The contrast between the restraint of graphite and the rich color palettes of pastel and watercolor enables me to tell different facets of the human story: from moments of stillness to intense outbursts, and everything in between.
For me, vulnerability lies at the heart of everything I create. It is a strength I have learned to value through the challenges life has brought me. My work reflects this process and shows how vulnerability can be a source of strength, beauty, and connection. In a world where feeling is often pushed to the background, I hope my work encourages people to truly feel again, and in doing so, to find connection with themselves and with others.
My art is a reflection of the human experience, raw, powerful, and yet vulnerable, and I hope it inspires viewers to embrace their own emotions and vulnerabilities.
